She picked me up hitch hiking
She said she'd been on vacation
Me i had no place to be
And i had time just for waisting

She drove a beat up wagoneer
She had long beautiful hair
I had blood on both my hands
But she never seemed to care

She parked out front of some drug store
And i went in alone
She heard the ringing of my gun shots
to the song of the alarms

We tore off into the desert
Making love under the stars
split the money down the middle
and set fire to the car

We got a motel room Gallup
And for a week we watched the news
Sewing needles, got black ink
Matching wedding band tattoos

It was all just bad timing
Cause the cops were right outside
We got away but she'd been shot
and later that night she died

So i counted all of the money
And i cried under the stars
Laid her body in the back seat
and set fire to the car
